Welcome to the division of Research, Analytics and Planning! As its name implies, the purpose of the division is to coordinate and evaluate institutional planning and assessment processes and to conduct institutional research in support of the college’s continuous improvement efforts. The division recognizes the value of teamwork and broad-based participation in its endeavors. In fact, we believe they are essential in order to promote the College’s Vision, Mission and Values as well as to support a campus climate that is conducive to continuous improvement. (Note: Several of the following documents are available via internal access only.)
In order to ensure the College is accomplishing its mission, Northeast State periodically conducts various assessments of its programs, courses, services, etc. You may be asked to participate in one or more surveys, interviews, focus groups, or other types of assessment to evaluate these processes. Please be assured that the College protects the privacy of its respondents. Our goal is to continually improve our programs and services to ensure your satisfaction and success, and we value your input.
Inquiries for Conducting Research at Northeast State Community College (IRB – Institutional Review Board)
While Northeast State Community College is not a research institution, the College regularly receives requests for permission to conduct research among its faculty, staff, or students. A person interested in conducting research at Northeast State Community College should contact Cindy Christian in the Office of Research, Analytics, and Planning (RAP) for complete details and application procedures. See contact information below.
The RAP Office serves as the coordinating body for facilitating such research requests and works closely with the College’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure adherence to the regulations for the protection of human subjects in research established by the Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) found in 45 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 46.
The RAP Office also serves as a liaison to College leadership and various departments to determine the reasonability and feasibility of proposed research studies in light of Northeast State’s own planning, assessment, and evaluation needs and ongoing initiatives. Consequently, requests to conduct research at the College are evaluated on a case-by-case basis in consideration of these factors as well as available College resources.
Consequently, those persons interested in conducting research at Northeast State should allow for at least 90 days from initial application to receive a determination regarding approval or denial of a proposed research request.
