Northeast State Community College - We're here to get you there

Military student at Northeast StateGet a head start on your education!  Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credit for military training is one of the most widely used and accepted forms of PLA.  The American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide is the primary resource that Northeast State uses as a basis for crediting formal courses and occupations offered by all branches of the military. These credit recommendations appear on the service member's  Joint Services Transcript. To order your transcript please visit the appropriate link below.  Once received, Northeast State faculty will review your JST and you will be contacted by the Veteran and Military Student Success Center for a brief advising session prior to formally accepting credits available to you.

  • CCAF (Community College of the Air Force)
  • VMET (Verification of Military Education and Training) - DD Form 2586 (The Department of Defense is required to issue a DD Form 2586 to all separating service members since October 1, 1990.)

Access the Tennessee Servicemember Opportunity Portal (TN-SOP) here to find out what credits you may receive from your military experience.  Please note that this database is continually growing as schools review and add equivalent academic credit.  Your courses and/or occupation(s) may not be available via the TN-SOP at this time.  To find out what credit you may receive please submit your Joint Service Transcript to Northeast State Community College.
