Who is eligible for a mentor?

Any student can request a mentor. Our primary focus is new incoming freshmen, but we offer services to dual enrollment students and returning students as well.

Who is eligible to become a mentor?

Students who have completed at least two semesters of college with a GPA of 3.25 or higher, can offer tutoring in writing or statistics, have passed at least 24 credit hours, and have been full-time at least one semester are eligible to become mentors.

Are mentors compensated for their services?

Yes, mentors will receive a stipend at the end of each semester.

What are the expectations of mentees?

Mentees are expected to communicate with their mentors and participate in mentoring sessions

What are the expectations of mentors?

Mentors are expected to reach out to their mentees at least once per week - two weeks, provide tutoring when requested, attend monthly meetings, and complete an activity report biweekly. Mentors will also utilize the mentoring software and complete evaluation surveys.

Is it free to request a mentor or mentor/tutor?

Yes!

What are the benefits of having a peer mentor or mentor tutor?

Students who have a peer mentor and actively engage with their mentor have more guidance and assistance as they adapt to being a successful college student. Students who participate in the program see a better outcome reflected in their grades and GPAs.
