Career Day

Career and Technical Education (CTE) hosts Career Day each year with the goal of exposing high school students to career pathways and academic programs within the applied science areas. Each fall high school students are invited to the Blountville campus where they tour the College and view program demonstrations and presentations in academic areas such as Nursing, Welding, Cyber Security, and Aviation Technology. Dual Credit Day

Each spring high school students who have successfully completed an articulated class at their high school visit campus to take the applicable dual credit examination for free college credit! High school students have the opportunity to choose from over 20 dual credit examinations for which to sit during this event! 

Annual Counselor Workshop  

Career and Technical Education sponsors a one-day professional development workshop for high school guidance counselors covering information specific to student services and academic opportunities at Northeast State. Past workshop topics have included financial aid, admissions, student advising, Tennessee Promise, dual enrollment, academic programs, and counseling services.   

Grants

Career and Technical Education is responsible for managing Perkins V Base and Reserve Grants. As part of the Perkins V Base Grant, campus-wide strategies and programs are developed and implemented to increase the enrollment, retention, and placement of students in associate of applied science degree programs. Initiatives that strengthen linkages between secondary and postsecondary career and technical education programs are also supported through the grant.
