Testing Services

The purpose of Testing Services is to coordinate the administration of college testing. The office also provides testing for community members: High School Equivalency Testing Services, CLEP, certification testing, and proctoring of Distance Education exams to citizens in the College's five-county service area.

IMPORTANT

The Testing Center will be closed if Northeast State is closed. If the college is on a delayed schedule, then testing will begin 30 minutes after administration offices open.

The receipt confirmation for scheduling an exam will have an ESTIMATED duration time at the top Depending on the type of test, times may vary slightly from that estimated time

Testing dates are typically added only 2-3 weeks in advance - check back frequently for added dates/times Email Testing@NortheastState.edu if you have any questions on dates/times.

The Testing Centers in Blountville and Kingsport have video surveillance.

At the Blountville campus, please park in lots that do NOT require a permit. Below is a campus map for Blountville showing how to find the Testing Center, C2303.

Payment for all exams, except A2 nursing and ACCUPLACER(R) Kingsport, is in-person at the Business Office at each campus location. In Blountville, the cashier is located in the General Studies Building, C2407 Information on payment for A2 Nursing and ACCUPLACER (R) Kingsport are included when you choose that exam below.

The Exit Exam is now open for all 2025 graduates.

The A2 Nursing Entrance exam fall cycle is now open.  It will close one week before the nursing application deadline.

Testing Services Guidelines

 Please review these testing guidelines and information for each test before scheduling a test date.

  • A valid photo ID is required for tests.
  • Cell phones must be turned on silent and collected prior to testing. Students will not have access to them during testing or breaks.
  • Children are not allowed in the Testing Center during testing and must be supervised by an accompanying adult while on campus.
  • Students who are ill or experiencing coughing, high fever, or other contagious symptoms are encouraged to reschedule their tests.
  • Plagiarism, cheating, fabrication, and other forms of academic misconduct are prohibited in the Testing Center. Testing Center staff who have good cause to believe that a student engaged in academic misconduct have the authority to dismiss the student from the Testing Center. The student’s course instructor or appropriate test provider for a third party test taker will be notified. Northeast State students, including those enrolled in TN eCampus courses, are subject to NeSCC Policy 03:05:04 Academic, Non-Academic, and Classroom Misconduct.
  • Students whose behavior is a disturbance to other students will be asked to leave the Testing Center.
  • All scratch paper must be turned in before leaving the Testing Center.Accommodations for testing (e.g., extended time, low-distraction testing, etc.) must first be approved through Accessibility Services, and then the appropriate testing location will be determined.
  • Food or beverages are not allowed at the testing computer stations and must be properly stored while in the Testing Center.

Some tests have a testing fee.  This information is provided with each available test listed above.  No payment is required in the registration system, RegisterBlast.  Follow the directions with each test on how to pay online or to pay at the Cashier's Office on campus.  Testing Services staff cannot accept payments.
