To complete the FAFSA go to StudentAid.gov and login with your FSA ID (username and password):
The first person to start a student’s FAFSA (usually the student) will determine which other individuals will be required to provide information on their FAFSA and “invite” them to be a contributor. To invite someone, you will enter their full name, date of birth, social security number (SSN), and email address. Note, the email address cannot be the same as the student’s or any other contributor. Starting in 2024-25 contributors other than the student are not required to have a social security number.
As soon as you invite a contributor, they will receive an email immediately. They may log in and work on their portion of the FAFSA at any time, even at the same time as the student or other contributors. All contributors must complete and sign the FAFSA before it may be submitted. The final contributor will be the one to submit the FAFSA.
Important: Once you invite contributors, all parties have 45 days to complete the FAFSA. Forms will be deleted after 45 days of inactivity.
One to three days after submitting your FAFSA you will receive an email with your FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS). The FSS provides important information in four categories:
Be sure to review your FAFSA Submission Summary carefully. You may correct your FAFSA if you find you made a mistake.
While there is still a paper FAFSA, students are STRONGLY encouraged to complete the FAFSA online. The online FAFSA will offer a secure and significantly faster process. If you choose to submit a paper FAFSA it could take weeks, if not months to process.
