Brightspace by D2L - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My instructor said my login was the name portion of my email address. How do I find my email address?

A: Every student at Northeast State is given a student email account as part of their registration process. Most student email take the form of “student-ID”@stumail.northeaststate.edu. If your instructor does not have your e-mail address you may get it by contacting the Computer Services office at 423.354.2464 or on campus by calling extension 2464.

Q: How do I log into Brightspace by D2L?

A: Type https://myne.northeaststate.edu into your browser's address box.

Q: What is my password?

A: Every student's password starts as their birthdate in MMDDYY format. This can be changed by going logging into Brightspace by D2L and changing your password there.

Q: I go to the Brightspace by D2L login page but I can get no further. It says my user ID or password is invalid. What should I do?

A: This is caused by typing in either a user ID or password that is not recognized by Brightspace by D2L. Either the user ID or password the user is trying is incorrect, or the student has not yet been sent to Brightspace by D2L. NOTE: Students registering late have to have their registration information sent to D2L Brightspace before they can log in. This is done overnight and may delay logging in until the next morning.

Q: I can read email within Brightspace by D2L but I cannot send mail. What's the problem?

The compose screen in Brightspace by D2L is a popup window so popup blockers will prevent the compose screen from appearing. Email in Brightspace by D2L is a closed system so you cannot send mail to a mail account outside of Brightspace by D2L.

Yuja - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I get to my Yuja recordings?

A: Yuja is used to record lectures and play them back for review. Each recording is part of a class that corresponds to a Brightspace by D2L course. Students may access the recordings for their courses by the following link. https://northeaststate.yuja.com/Login.jsp

Q: I have clicked on the Yuja link in Brightspace by D2L but when I login I receive a message that my user ID is invalid. What should I do?

A: The process required to link the Brightspace by D2L courses to the Yuja recordings is time-consuming and is only run until the last day to add a class. Students who are purged from class and then allowed to re-enter or those who register after the last day to add a class may not be included in the list of students sent to Yuja. If you continue to experience issues logging into Yuja, please contact the Office of Academic Computing at 423-354-2413 or on campus at Extension 3388.

Q: I have gotten into the Yuja site, but there are no course recordings listed for my class. Why not?

A: Either the instructor has not recorded any lectures for this class, or they are in the process of being uploaded from the classroom computer to the server. This latter condition is characterized by the name of the lecture showing as unavailable. Lectures may take as long as 24 hours to upload before they are available.
